Description
The Blomberg trucks have been EMD’s go-to two axle road locomotive trucks for over 80 years. Designed by Martin Blomberg and first introduced in 1939 on the EMD FT locomotive, they have been used in almost every EMD four axle road locomotive since, manufactured by a number of different companies in one of three general variants.
Our design is of the Dofasco Blomberg “M” truck, which, like later versions of the “M” truck cast by Rockwell in the States, retained the leaf springs of the “B” design and utilized Timken tapered roller bearings. These trucks were used under a wide variety of Canadian four axle locomotives, most notably the VIA Rail Canada GMD F40PH-2 and it’s rebuilds, and EMD’s F59PH and F59PHI locomotives.
Swing hangers and brake cylinders will not be included at this time and will need to be purchased as separate detail parts. The sideframe is compatible with Walthers swing hanger and brake cylinders for their F40PH model, or with ATH46037 Athearn HO Blomberg-M Brake set.
