We strive to do our best to design parts for model trains to be as accurate as possible. However, we can’t always control the various quirks of the 3D printing process, and one of these is warpage.

While we do inspect parts and models that we send out directly, it is not possible for us to do this from Shapeways, as we are not involved with either the printing or the quality control process. For parts sent directly from us, we do inspect them to make sure they meet our standards, but some warpage may still occur during shipment.

If you receive a part or model that is warped, either through our Shapeways store or directly from us, you can alleviate this warping by placing the part or model in hot water for a few seconds and then slowly and gently bending it back to the correct shape.
